Uber Receives $1 Billion Investment For Self Driving Car

​Uber’s self-driving call received a $1 billion investment from Toyota, Softbank, and Denso. Denso is a Japanese auto parts maker will, with Toyota contribute $667 million, while SoftBank will contribute about $333 billion.

These funds came in after Uber announced the self-driving car would be done with a Toyota Sienna. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that these investments would, “transform transportation as we know it.”

“The development of automated driving technology will transform transportation as we know it, making our streets safer and our cities more livable. Today’s announcement, along with our ongoing OEM and supplier relationships, will help maintain Uber’s position at the forefront of that transformation,” he continued.

Uber’s IPO prospectus was revealed early this month and is expected to make $100 billion after it makes it stock market debut.
