Still, we found no controlled trial of the complete Rootine program, broader research has not shown consistent outcome gains from genotype-guided nutrition, and both the Smart Multivitamin and testing services ended in February 2025. The earlier positive rating gave the concept too much credit.
Positive accounts do not have to be false for the rating to have been wrong. A customer could genuinely prefer the dashboard, travel packets and made-to-order formula. A laboratory could also produce an accurate result. Neither experience tells us whether the commercial recommendation improved health. The earlier article moved too quickly from a sophisticated process to an assumed benefit.
There was useful transparency. Rootine identified Claya, Inc.; its terms separated information from medical care; and the FAQ described markers, sample handling, packets and cancellation. SelfDecode's later technical review was broadly favorable about the multi-input concept while naming the limited marker set and high price. Healthcare Business Today cited Rootine as a positively reviewed DNA-test use case. The Washington Note used Rootine in a discussion about whether people need multivitamins. Those contexts explain why the old page earned links. They do not freeze its conclusion after the market and evidence changed.

The surviving consensus is small and mixed, not overwhelmingly positive or negative. Across 12 inspected bodies on seven eligible surfaces, people repeatedly liked the integrated dashboard, easy home testing and portable daily packets. They repeatedly disliked the premium cost, three-month commitment and awkward microbeads, or questioned whether personalization produced a measurable advantage. The record is useful for onboarding, form factor and value. It is far too sparse and self-selected to estimate benefit, harm or satisfaction rates.
Trustpilot is the clearest warning against treating a platform badge as consensus. Its Rootine profile displayed a 3.7 TrustScore but only one review, a brief five-star account from September 2021. Trustpilot also said the profile was unclaimed and the company had no history of inviting reviews. SmartCustomer displayed one positive body. Two one-review pages cannot support a percentage of happy customers, no matter how cleanly their stars fit into a comparison table.
Who What Wear provided a more useful first-person trial. The writer described a simple lifestyle questionnaire, cheek-swab process, personalized dashboard and portable packets. The beads took several pours and swallows and about a week to become routine. After a month, the account remained more persuasive about usability than efficacy. The article disclosed that purchases through its links could generate commission, a context that should accompany rather than automatically invalidate its observations.
SelfDecode approached Rootine as a testing service. Its March 2023 update credited DNA and blood inputs, raw-data upload and turnaround time. It also noted that Rootine examined around 50 genetic variants and fewer laboratory markers than a reader might assume from broad “hyper-personalized” language, cost $69 a month for a three-month vitamin term and was limited to the United States. Those details make it the strongest surviving independent feature audit.
The 1AND1 Life review captured the central contradiction. It gave Rootine a five-star headline and praised customization, then stated that independent research did not confirm better results from a DNA- and lifestyle-personalized vitamin than from a generic formulation. It also warned that the microbeads could be hard for some people to swallow. The caveats are more informative than the headline score because they address the product's promised advantage and daily friction.
Reddit discussions supplied skepticism and counterexamples. Prospective buyers called the service expensive and asked whether the science justified DNA-based dosing. A self-identified former user disliked the bead format and minimum term, though that commenter repeatedly promoted a competitor and therefore received reduced weight. Other users were excited by customization or later searched for a close replacement when Rootine shut down. Years of broader nutrigenetics research strengthened the case that some genetic variants can affect nutrient metabolism, but they did not validate the complete Rootine product. This is why the absence of a trial matters more after years, not less. A new company can reasonably begin with a plausible method and limited data. For this review, the important fact is narrow and firm: the personalized multivitamin and its associated test-to-formula service are not a verified current offer.
The wording matters because the website still exposes FAQ, policy and science pages. Search engines can crawl them, and old review articles can continue to send traffic. That persistence creates a false-currentness problem: a reader lands on a complete description and assumes the described service can still be purchased. The dated discontinuation notice resolves the conflict more reliably than the presence of evergreen Shopify pages.
For former users, the shutdown had more than a shopping consequence. The formula depended on stored questionnaire, genetic and sometimes blood information. A person looking for a replacement might want to export those reports before account access changes, ask a clinician which parts remain useful and then decide whether to request deletion.
